Planning Application HGY/2021/2889

Planning application to landscape Eade Studios Yard, create four shed-style units and a bin storage opposite New River Studios.

Over the summer, the planning team undertook a direct consultation with the lease holders of New River Studios and Eade Studios. The planning application was submitted on 10/09/21.

As part of the application process, the council create a Consultation List. This is a list of who the council will notify directly about the application – it is not created by Provewell and does not indicate people who have been previously consulted.

Every planning application includes a period of public consultation run by the council. Anyone in the area can comment on the application. The team encourage comments of support or concern. The council’s consultation period ends on 2/11/21.

LISTENING TO FEEDBACK

As part of developing ideas for this part of the site the planning team talked directly to the lease holders of New River Studios and Eade Studios.

KEY ASPECTS OF THE APPLICATION

Eade Studios Yard
The tenants of Eade Studios already use the outdoor area for construction and to socialise – much of the landscaping plan is to formalise the space for this use. A new wall and planters offer privacy to Unit C, without impacting on light. A gate is included to provide private access. 

Eade Studio Sheds
The plan includes four shed style. These will be offered as either pop-up spaces for events or more permanent studio spaces to rent. A revision of the frontage will open up the space and include an update of the existing sign. This creates a new space for warehouse tenants to use for events (requests to use the space for events will be managed by Eade Studios). 

Bin Storage / Water Attenuation
Bin storage will be positioned to the righthand side of the entrance to Eade Yard (opposite New River Studios). The bin storage will also include a water attenuation unit, recycling rainwater for a more sustainable approach of watering plants.

Entrance Arch
The planning team decided this aspect requires additional consultation. If at the conclusion of the consultation process there is no support for the entrance arch, the planning team will modify the proposals or remove the arch from the wider plans.
